Steven W. Dougherty Steve Dougherty was born and raised in the West, and is a 1980 graduate of the University of Utah and its College of Law, where he was a member of the Journal of Contemporary Law. He began his career as in-house counsel of Northwest Energy Company and as general counsel and secretary of Apco Argentina, Inc., both publicly-traded international companies in the petroleum industry. Since leaving corporate practice, Mr. Dougherty has provided both transactional and litigation (federal, state and administrative forums) services to a variety of clients, including small businesses, real estate development companies, internet and technology companies, lenders, construction contractors, landlords/tenants, employers, creditors in bankruptcy, and natural resource concerns, as well as individuals regarding real property and community governance. Mr. Dougherty has served on the Rules Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, sat as a Small Claims Court Judge pro tem, served as a member of the Summit County, Utah Form of Governance Study Group, lectured at forums and the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, and received recognition by Utah Business Magazine as one of Utah’s top corporate lawyers. In addition, Mr. Dougherty is a certified ski instructor who has taught skiing in Idaho and Utah for over thirty-five years. |
